BE PRAYERFUL

 BE PRAYERFUL

Introduction: As we are seated together, we carry with us lots of dreams, aspiration and desires; with the hope that they will be fulfilled. To achieve this, I have a special message for each one of you and that is “Be prayerful” we are all busy people-much immersed in the daily grind of life we seem to be always stressed and burdened. There are pressures at home, in school, our loved ones are under pressure at their work places- there are so many dead lines to be kept, homework to be done, assignments to be given up, activities to prepare for-sometimes we feel we may just break down with all the stress and strain of life.
Yet if we could just take a quiet moment alone with god and listen to what he has to say and what he wants us to do, it would brings us some relief and peace.

Reflection: god invites us to come aside and rest awhile. This invitation draws us to set aside time away from the daily routine and the umpteen things that have to be done, away from busyness of our lives and spend time at the Lord’s feet in prayer. Prayer is a hunger for god. It is a relationship with God. Prayer helps us to draw into deeper intimacy with god. It is wonderful to start the with prayer. We need the grace and strength from God to carry on with our day activities. This grace is obtained through prayer. We need God’s help to accept the trials that come our way. We need God’s help to acknowledge our weaknesses and failings. We need to thank him for guiding all the decisions and choices we make and for being with us every moment of our lives.
This world is a world of turmoil. We need the Lord to guide and direct us. All we need to do is to be open to him and he will never fail us. Surely we should consider ourselves lucky for we have a God who wants us to guide in everything that we do. With God we don’t have to be bogged down with worries or anxieties. We should be a happy and contended lot, as God will let everything fall in place if we only surrender to him. Since he loves us very, very much.
Some of our friends here will now share with us their personal experiences of how prayer have influences their lives.
Jusmini: Dear friends, I want to tell you about how I learnt to pray. When I was small, I did not know what it meant to pray. One day when I saw my mother and father praying, I asked my mother what is prayer and what does it mean. My mother told me that prayer means talking to God and asking God for help. From that day, I started praying to God and I still so it in the mornings and evenings.
Crystal: Once I saw beggar, begging on the footpath. I offered him something and he took it and closed his eyes. And then I came to know that he was thanking God for it. I felt ashamed of myself because God has given me everything and I had not thanked God for it from that day onwards I thank god for everything he has given me till today.
Dipti: When I was in the primary, our class went for a picnic. I was supposed to go back home with my friend who was my neighbor. But when I came to know that she went home I was very worried. I prayed to god to help me. Just then my mother’s friend came and told me that she would reach me home and I reached home safely. I was very thankful to God.
Paula:  first I was very naughty and I was not listening to my parents. Then I asked god to make me a good girl. God really answered my prayer and now I listen to my parents.

Commentator: So dear friends, we would like to urge you to develop this habit of praying and being prayerful. As we prepare ourselves to face the new challenges in our lives, let us take quiet moment each day and listen to what the Lord has to say to us. Let us whisper a prayer to god in the morning, noon or evening because God answers prayers anytime.
