FAREWELL PRAYER 2020....1

Farewell Prayer

God of all blessings, source of all life,
giver of all grace: We thank you for the gift of life:
for the breath that sustains life,
for the food of this earth that nurtures life,
for the love of family and friends
without which there would be no life.

We thank you for the mystery of creation:
for the beauty that the eye can see,
for the joy that the ear may hear,
for the unknown that we cannot behold filling the universe with wonder,
for the expanse of space that draws us beyond the definitions of our selves.

Thank you Jesus for bringing sr…….. into our life. As we bid farewell for her

We thank you for setting her in communities:
for families who nurture her becoming,
for friends who love her by choice,
for companions,
who share her burdens and daily tasks,
for strangers who welcomed her into their midst,
for people from other lands who called her to grow in understanding,
for children who lighten her moments with delight,
for the unborn, who offered her hope for the future.

We thank you for this day: for life
and one more day to love, for opportunity
and one more day to work for justice and peace,
for neighbors and one more person to love
and by whom be loved, for your grace
and one more experience of your presence,
for your promise: to be with her,
to be her God, and to give salvation.

Song

Dear …….

Some people come into our lives and quickly go, some stay for a while and some make the world so special by just being in it and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never ever the same. Life never turns the way we want but we live it the best way we can. There is no perfect life, but we can fill it with perfect moments. Lives of great men all remind us we can make our lives sublime and leave behind us footprints on the sands of time. It is said that You are alive - when the hope of tomorrow means more to you than yesterday’s mistake. You are growing…when you know what you are but not what you will become. You are free…when you are in control of yourself and do not wish to control others. You are merciful…when you forgive in others the faults you condemn in yourself. You have to love what you have got and remember what you had; learn from your mistakes but never regret; persons change, things go wrong, but remember life goes on.

Song

As Jesus sent 70 of his disciples ahead to spread good news, he told them:  Whenever you enter a town and its people welcome you, eat what is set before you; cure the sick who are there, and say to them, 'the kingdom of God has come near to you." (Luke 10:8-9)

3 years ago you entered this town, and became a part of our common life in Christ. We welcomed you in, and you ate our food, and shared with us your life/lives. It has been a joy to have you with us. You have touched us in many ways, and we hope our touch has been felt as well. It's amazing how in such ways as these God makes us whole. The kingdom has come near.

All too quickly, it seems, you are on your way again. We know you will be able to join a new  family in …… and we will be happy to know that you will get settled in that new place. But we also know that you will be missed here at …… and that it will take some time to get used to the separation.

To help you remember your time with us, we would like to give you a Smiling face/sad face as symbol. When you recall that you are still a part of this family of faith, even though your new home is many miles away. Pray that God may make this garden green with other newcomers, as special to us as you have been.

Lord God of all creation, we thank you for the joy of friendship. You expand our circle of love in so many ways. In the leaving of this, our sister, you are widening our fellowship even further. Our hearts, minds, and prayers will now personally include ….. Convent.

Offering

Now I invite Sr. Claret to handover the smiley

In times and sad times happy

Dear …… as you look at this smiley

You will need a large face that looks happy one way up and sad the other way up. Look at the happy face first and ask what events have made people happy during the last  and make a list of them. Pray about the list or say a one-line thank you prayer for each one. Then turn the face upside down and ask if anything sad or worrying has happened in the past 3 years and make a list of them too. Jesus always knows how we feel, whether we are happy or sad, and thanking him for being just as close to you in the good times as in the bad.

                                                Song

Dear Sr. ……

In life some people know you,

            Some people remember you,

Some people like you

Some people understand you,

Some people care for you… but

Those who love you does all the above and always hopes the best for you.

This we assure you dear Jimi. May the best of God’s choicest blessings be yours, always and  everywhere. You have given your best here and now God wants some other people, in different place, in different parish, in different mission, to experience the same of what we have experienced here.

Yes dear Jimi…

            Someone needs your SMILE

            Someone needs your LISTENING EAR

Someone needs your ENCOURAGEMENT and gentle words of cheer

Someone needs your HELPING HAND,

Someone needs your CHEERFULNESS TO make their life brighten up.

So go to the destined place as a representative of God.

Today in this adoration, we all of us pray for you and for your mission’

May God give you a rainbow in every storm,

            Smile in every tear,

            Promise in every care,

Blessing in every trial …and

            An answer in every prayer.

God bless you now and always, here and everywhere. May your mission flourish with God’s grace.

Praying for these intentions and specially praying for all the intentions of our dear sister, Let us say Our Father….

Concluding Prayer

We praise and thank you, God of the journey, for Jimi who is soon to leave. We entrust her into your loving care, knowing that you are always the Faithful Traveler and Companion on her way. Shelter her and protect her from all harm and all useless anxiety. May the future be a source of many enriching and transforming moments. Amen.
